Finding Mr. Darcy

So in case you didn't know....I LOVE Mr. Darcy's character from Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice.
Yes...I read the book, even though the movies were great as well!

So I was just living my life, reading lots of books, discovering the awesomeness of The Lunar Chronicles, browsing the library...stuff like that. Then suddenly I came across a book called Prom and Prejudice, it was a modern retelling of Pride and Prejudice. Needless to say, I checked it out of the library immediately and started reading. I loved it! :)

I love a lot of retellings because I love seeing the connections from the original story and how things change in the retelling  to create a unique version of a classic. I find it completely amazing, which is why I love when you guys do fanfiction of my favorite books. It took awhile for it to click in my head that there must be more published retellings of Pride and Prejudice out there. I found some more!

So here are the ones I've found so far. If you have somehow stumbled on another one. Please share! Tell me!!! Pretty please?!

Me: 5/5 stars I loved the awkwardness of Will Darcy!!! I think this book the best representation of Darcy's mysterious, broody character. It's my favorite out of all the retellings of Pride and Prejudice I've read so far. I have to admit the Darcy character scared me a bit....but I guess I liked that? Haha! I'm so strange! It was definitely an awesome read! Warning: A friend of mine had completely different opinions on this book, so read at your own risk. If you read it, don't forget to tell me what you thought about it. I love hearing from you! :)

At Coral Tree Prep in Los Angeles, who your parents are can make or break you. Case in point:

Me: 4/5 stars It was a cute story. You might not agree, but as I said I love parallels from retellings, so I might be a bit biased. Read at your own risk. This book stayed true to the broody Mr. Darcy I know and love. Yay!!!! I loved it!! I thought the heroine was going to be a bit annoying at first, but she grew on me. *high fives the author* :D

Me: 4/5 stars
This was one of my favorites to read and it's a series! Yay!!!! I really enjoyed this story. Dante (Mr. Darcy) was not what I expected. It seems that some authors banded together and decided not to let Mr. Darcy have an awkward and broody personality, which is really sad because that's what I loved most about his character. Dante was broody, but not enough for me. I enjoyed the author's prose and felt that she represented the other characters well. This story has a lot going for it. Insider: The next book in the series is called So Into you and will be a modern retelling of Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility.

Random fact: I took an online quiz that said out of all of Jane Austen's Heroines, I'm most like Elinor Dashwood from Sense and Sensibility!! So ofcourse I will be reading the next book in the series, I'm hooked. I took a trip over at goodreads and was surprised that some people had the opposite of my experience. Bummer!! You be the judge.

Taylor always gets what he wants until now. 
Chloe Elizabeth Hart despises the conceited antics of the popular crowd, or more importantly, one very annoying self-possessed guy, Taylor Anderson, who seems determined to make her the president of his fan club! As if! Every girl in the whole city of Farmington, New Mexico, is in love with him, but he seems to be only interested in Chloe.

This modern high school adaptation of Pride and Prejudice is a battle of wits as Chloe desperately tries to remain the only girl who can avoid the inevitable falling for Taylor.

Me: 3/5 stars. This was probably my least favorite of the retellings, but it was still pretty good. This story also decided to get rid of the broodiness of Mr. Darcy's character :( He was still pretty awkward (around the heroine), so I guess that makes up for it a little. There were definitely some comedic/genius moments. One of the few complaints I had about this book was that he was dating another girl while claiming to be in love with another....What???? Either way, it was a good read, and it made me smile and giggle all the way through. Again, read at your own risk. :)
